Gail's EDDL 510 Assignment 4

Details about this final assignment starts of the next page. I need to mention that I am not able to include the various assessment checklists that I refer to in the lessons because I do not have copyright permission to include them in this EDDL 510 course at this point in time. If this unit is ever done by actual students, they will have the text (which I have a copy of) and will have access to the checklists that they are encouraged to use. Alternately, an institution may decide to get copyright permission for online inclusion of the checklists in a course.

The online resources and technology used in this unit are as follows:

1a) A number of YouTube videos used were all chosen because they dealt with the topics of the lesson, were fairly short, free, and not trying to sell a product or service to the viewer during or after the video. Unfortunately, they are not all totally free of ads on the rest of the web page with the YouTube video. I must say that it takes a lot of time to find pertinent quality resources online, but hopefully they will add to the information in the text and appeal to a variety of learning styles. The URLs for the various videos are as follows (they are linked in the lessons):

1b) Presentation Skills Training Articles at http://presentationstraining.net/presentation_training_skills_articles.htm

2) Skype, DimDim or Windows Live for synchronous conversations among peers and for practice presentations. Students get to talk to and/or see each other for free, at a mutually convenient time. These tools are useful for small group work.

3) A wiki such as Wikispaces (being used for the presentation of this unit) is suggested if students wish to collaborate asynchronously on a task, such as compiling a list, or answering questions together. Google Docs is another tool that could be used for sharing and collaborating.

4) Elluminate is used for the final presentations. The Open Learning Faculty Member has to help set up the sessions, but this tool has the advantage of connecting several people at the same time. Presentations could also be recorded for later play back.

5) The mindmap tool, such as found at https://bubbl.us/ is a useful tool for brainstorming and planning the content and organization of a presentation.

6) Presentation software, such as PowerPoint or Prezi, is very useful for delivery of a presentation.

7) Delicious or Diigo for social bookmarking

8) Word Press as a possible blogging tool
