Gail's EDDL 510 Assignment 4 – Unit Plan Unit Title: Making Effective Presentations
Target Audience: The lessons in this unit are primarily intended for TRU Open Learning online MBA students who will have to make effective presentations as part of their work life. It could be used as a supplementary unit on its own or part of a capstone course that helps to prepare graduating students for their careers as managers.
Length of Unit: The unit should take about four weeks in total. Each of the four lessons that make up this unit should take one week of online work.
Purpose: To provide MBA students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to make effective presentations to a variety of audiences
Learning outcomes: After successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:
develop and organize an effective presentation
develop the verbal and visual supports needed for an effective presentation
deliver an effective presentation
critique a presentation
Prerequisites: Basic computer knowledge, acceptance into the TRU Open Learning MBA program
Required Hardware/software: Computer with internet, PowerPoint/Prezi or any type of presentation software

Learning Activities: Reading, completing self quizzes, internet search, watching and analyzing video clips, online discussions, videotaping, one-on-one feedback, peer review using an assessment checklist, use of technology tools such as a wiki, Skype, Elluminate.
Assessments Assignment 1 is made up of various parts to be completed at different stages throughout the unit (75%)
Assignment 2 consists of a review or critque of a peer's final presentation (15%)
Online discussions to be graded at the end of the unit based on all of your discussion postings during the unit (10%)
